  • Noisy Whirlpool dryer

Sorry, thought I might post a video of this dryer running. I do not see the option.
    Model- GEQ9800PW0
    Thumping noise. Rollers? Felt seal?
May post it on YouTube so it can be seen and heard.
Replaced the rollers several times, but they were used.

Second from the last icon ( on the right ) looks like a movie film...this is for videos.

Roller wheels for sure, cracked drum, chunk missing from the belt, something in the roller wheel tracks on the drum ( glue, rubber pieces, etc ), something in the fan blower wheel would be prime suspects for me.

May post it on YouTube so it can be seen and heard.
    That would be great.

Second from the right is 3 dots. No option there that I can see.
Anyway, got to thinking about it and remembered some retry good dents on the back of the cabinet. Thinking maybe they have the bulkhead s little out of alignment.
Still may be the rollers or roller attachments.
I changed the rear rollers again yesterday and the sound got worse. Pretty sure it is something to do with rollers or bulkhead being out of whack.
Have spent way more time on this thing than it is worth, but am pretty determined to find the problem, I will know next time I run into this.

That's odd Rick. When I click on reply I get a whole list of icons above where you type.

The movie/video one looks like this one here.

Are you on a phone or a real computer? That might make a difference.

Thinking maybe they have the bulkhead s little out of alignment.
Kinda hard to do...unless someone took it apart before you and messed it up.

              Great video Rick.

Noise is too slow for roller wheels.
A screw backed out from one of the drum baffles hitting the cabinet would be a suspect.
Something caught in the drum seal and hitting as the drum goes around would be a suspect.

I sort of suspected s screw hitting the drum and turned one around so the head of the screw was to the inside. Swapped a couple of rollers around. The sound did change. I was hoping I could find a scrape mark on the drum.
Will check it again today. The sound changing has me a little perplexed.
Are the metal inserts in the rollers supposed to protrude equally on both sides on all of them?
Both rear roller supports same length on this dryer?

Thanks Jeff. I was thinking one was supposed to be a little longer. The exploded diagram I looked at (I thought) showed them to be the same in the specs.
Think we just found the problem.

Will do if I decide to fool with it more.
I think someone before me put the wrong roller supports on it. The two on the rear bulkhead are the same length. I was thinking the one on the right was supposed to be a little longer.
The site I checked gave the same measurements for all the roller supports. For some reason, it only showed the right rear and right front. If I remember correctly they had different part numbers but same specifications.

The grooves cut in the shaft are also in different spots.
