    Default Electrical for mini-split AC

I purchased a Fujitsu 12,000 mini-split AC/Heat pump for my tiny home. I have some questions about the electrical requirements. I attached the spec sheet for reference.

The distance between my breaker box and the outdoor unit is about 30 feet. I will be installing an AC disconnect near the outdoor unit.

*What type and gauge of wire do I need to use from the breaker box to the disconnect and then from the disconnect to the outdoor unit?

*What size breaker do I need? I believe I would use a 15A double pole breaker.

    *Can I use a 30A disconnect?

I appreciate any help or advice.

You need 14-2 wire with ground as the minimum size. I would do 12-2 in case you ever install a larger unit and it will save a bit of voltage drop.

Some inspectors treat the inside of an outdoor disconnect as a wet area. To be safest, use something like 12-2 UF cable (which can go in wet areas), or conduit with THWN conductors. Regular NM cable may or may not be approved.

The disconnect needs to be rated for at least 15A, and usually the smallest available are 30A, so a 30A disconnect is fine. You'll need a 15A double pole breaker at the panel. The spec sheet said fuse, so you may need a fused disconnect. Fujitsu may not know that it would have been nicer to say "breaker or fuse" and again some inspectors may not care. You could try just a pullout type of disconnect, a switch type, or once with a breaker (15A or larger). Most breakers are HACR rated, but the Fujitsu documentation didn't seem to mention that.

Mark, Thank you very much. I will go with a 30A, fused disconnect and 12-2 UF cable.

First of all as said the outdoor box area is considered as wet area so you have to choose wires that could be safe in that place and second thing is that you should take advice/help of an expert that has years of experience in this field.
