    Default GE Microwave Parts

This is a new model GE Microwave, model PVM9005SJ2SS 2.1cu ft

The owner set it for minutes instead of seconds, had a small fire in the cooking compartment.

    Parts needed:

    - Stirrer cover
    - Door film
    - plastic shield under the light bulb.

GE says the door film is part of the door, $303. This is stupid as it's a consumable. The physical size is 19" X 7".

The stirrer cover is shown in the parts catalog but has no part number, GE can't help.
Same for the plastic shield, which is just a piece of plastic.

I tried all the major parts houses, same answers as GE, can't help.

    Any ideas on alternative parts??

After replacing the T-stat the microwave works fine, would like to get these few small parts.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Welcome to the new Microwave world....where parts are no longer available and we can often only buy the whole unit.
It is so cheap for them to import these things from China and such they do not want to spend money on parts, part warehouses or anything like that any more
You can try to buy a used one for parts, maybe on Ebay.
    Sorry can't help more!

    Jeff,

Thanks for the reply, not unexpected.

I will write a letter to the GE Appliance CEO and ask him if replacing a $500 microwave because some small (consumable) parts aren't available makes any sense to him.

Ironically, the microwave was already replaced, I decided to take it apart and see how badly it was damaged. Other than some mild staining on the top of the cavity, the film peeling and the stirrer being burned it still works. I temporarily bypassed T-stat which I found on e-bay for 15 bucks.

    Thanks

G.E. to Sell Appliance Division to Haier for $5.4 Billion - The New York Times

You will also probably want to ask Haier as they now own GE.
