    Default thermostats

When a dryer is getting too hot be it the seals or whatever, why does the cycling stat not open?

Most times I see the thermostat facing is covered with soap or dryer sheet gunk that prevents the thermostat from reading the temp correctly.
Shorted heating element, strange air flow, shorted wire, thermostats are some thing that could make the dryer overheat.

Ditto On the stats being coated with gunk. I may need to check the calibration on the my thermometers
