I think is probably a general enough guestion to not need a model number.
Anyway, when I went to check ice situation in this fridge, it would not dispense ice. I had emptied the bucket a day or two before. When I checke dit would dispense ice. There was very little ice in it may a tray or two, not enought for the auger to really take to the front like it should. I then checked the wtaer dispenser. Very little water would come out. Took th efilter off to check it. Got very little water out of it, but I could hear water in it when I shook it. So, I turned it upside down and shook for a minut eor so and did some more water out of it and put it back in the fridge. Then the water would come out in a full stream for a just a little bit and drain a little as I remove my container.

While I had the filter off, I thought maybe it would dispense water where the filter went, but it would not with the filter removed.

Simple a clogged filter or something else?

Always need a model#...some GE's are GE, some are LG made and some are Samsung made....which would be different.

Correct, you need the bypass installed when the filter is removed.

Bad filter, bad filter head....or both.

I would try the filter first as a good place to start.

So the filter does come apart? Looked like it had clips in it to depress for disassemby. I sold it has a garage fridge. Don't think water will be connected to it, but be good to know if I come across this problem again. And I migh tbe able to advise him when he brings my appliace dollie back.

Get them to turn off the ice maker or the fill valve will make a buzzzzzzzz noise once in a while calling for water and none is hooked up.
