Default Whirlpool Gold, model GS5SHA, perpetual drip freezing

I have a Whirlpool Gold, Model #GS55HA, side-by-side refrigerator. Water continues to drip from the thing it's supposed to drip from (sorry, I don't know what that "thing" is technically called) into the ice maker. The ice maker works -- when the cubes freeze, it dumps the cubes into the holder. However, because there is a perpetual drip from the "thing," a large icicle forms around the side of the maker and if left alone, will eventually splatter and cause ice to build up and drip from down inside the freezer. I had to shut off the water supply to the fridge to make it stop.

I have read that it's either the water inlet valve or it's the dual outlet valve. How do I know which part to replace? Thank you.

    Hi,

    GS55HA
That is part of a full model#...46 models start with those digits...the rest is?

Low water pressure to the refrigerator ( shut off valve, kinked line ) or a fill valve not 100% shutting off can do that.
How fast does the chilled water fill up a glass?

Default Whirlpool freezer fill tube leaking

Thank you for getting back to me, Jeff. I'm still having the issue, so I'll answer your questions and add a little more.

How fast does the chilled water fill up a glass? We can fill a cup (8oz.) of water in 15 seconds.

In the interim, I discovered that it's the the "thing" leaking is called the fill tube. A drop drips from it every couple of seconds and will not stop unless we shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. When it drips, it fills the fill cup with an icicle extending from the fill tube to the bottom of the fill cup and then the icicle expands to go outside the fill tube and wherever it wants.

We replaced the water inlet valve and it's still happening. There is no water leaking elsewhere in or around the refrigerator. And there is no drip coming from the water dispenser in the door.

    Thank you.

    That one works

    That is a little slow.

We replaced the water inlet valve and it's still happening.
    Is the filter new?
A copy: It should take approximately seven seconds to fill an eight ounce glass with water.
A copy:With the water filter removed, dispense 1 cup (237 mL) of water. If 1 cup of water is dispensed in 8 seconds or less,
the water pressure to the refrigerator meets the minimum requirement.
If it takes longer than 8 seconds to dispense 1 cup of water, the water pressure to the refrigerator is lower than
    recommended.

Is the shut off valve a self piercing style?...if yes, changing that to a drill type valve can help with water pressure......low water pressure can keep the fill valve from 100% closing and we see water weeping into the ice maker.
