Default parts with more than 1 part number.

ok, have a 10-14 year old portable Kenmore washing machine, and it has worked perfect
until about 2 months ago when the electronic control board went out. sears tried to find it twice, and had to give me my money back saying there were so more any where. and it
was not being manufactured anymore. but I found one for $246.plus change, with a $60.00 core return. so I only paid $204.00 for it and after 2 weeks, the repair people got here.

but it was the wrong part. it only has 2 water level switch wires, but my machine needs
a board with 3. but then I went back to check the photos of the board on the sears parts site, same thing, only 2 wires. the control board is no longer on the sears website.

turns out there are 2 different part numbers. the part # they have now, if you can find it, is # 3970630. but the information I got from the sears site before it was taken down is, this a substitution for part # 3968298, in fact the information on this takes up a whole page. but come to find out the repair techs. found the part number on the new part and it is # 3969261.

I need to get this one repaired or replaced. anybody have any ideas on what to do?
i'm on disability so I need to get it fixed.

type the number and control board in the search box on Ebay. Didn't look to see how many wires this one has. Might can contact the seller and find out.

Actually, you can place your cursor over the parts and count the wires. Looks like one of the switches has 3 wires. This is a used one, but you might find a new one on Ebay also.

well it turned out the substitution part was not worth a thing. because on one end it only has 2 wires.
but these wires, with female ends, (or has THAT WORD now been declared sexist and nobody can use it) plugs in to a part called a washer water level switch. this part tells the machine when to stop pumping
water into the machine, and when to pump it out. and it has 3 MALE CONNECTORS ON IT. and this part is still on the parts list in the searspartsdirect, com website. and when I pointed this out to sears, they pulled the control board off their website.

so the part I need is 3968298, which appears to be obsolete. but i've found one man who says he has the wiring diagram, and he is mailing a copy to me. but i'm still going to need help looking for this part I do need just in case the one I have can't be fixed or I was lied to about the wiring diagram.

    have a great day everybody.
