    Default Kenmore oven buzzing

    Model - 790.95032505
    Serial - VF95055571

When I turn the oven on, it makes a buzzing sound from time to time.

Does not matter if it is on broil or bake. Just temp buzzing.

Is this a GE built Kenmore?

From what I have been able to find, this series of stoves are known for this. Of course, this one "never made any noises before".

    790. is a Frigidaire built Kenmore.

Elements can make a buzz like noise. Ceran top elements often make a frequency like buzz noise.
Biggest complaint we often see with these is the clicking noises from the relays on the clock during the cooking process.....clickity-clackity.

This is more like a sizzling almost like a loose wire or connection. Like I mentioned, I have found a few articles where people were asking about this. Some were told to replace a n expensive piece. Thinking it might have been a control board. This one only does it when one of the oven elements is on, and it is not a continuous noise.

This seems to be the Year of Noises for me.
I keep telling myself not buy anything from a storage bin. Maybe someday I will wise up.

Only way to know is by checking....arcing relay on the control.....can usually see any burnt/loose wires.

I will definitely remove the back panel and check for burnt marks and or arcing. Maybe I can pinpoint the location of the sound. Just thought since this seemed to be a known problem with this series, someone might know exactly what the problem is. I suspect the control board.

Maybe I will get lucky, and it will be oven elements going out.

    Yeah, right! LOL!

I don't believe it to be a known problem....at least not overly common in my area.

    arcing relay on the control
Got a chance to take the back off today. There are 3 relay looking things, one white and two black. The white one arcs now and then when it buzzes. Almost as if it does it when heat is called for when it cycles.

I assume this is a relay. Whatever it is, can it beb ought separately from the control board? Maybe I need to check the solder joints on the other side of the board?

I think I will do that, but I feel like this relay, if that is what it is, has burned contacts inside it at this point.

This part says Tyco Electronics, and has the numbers/letters OZ-SS-112LM1f
    0912 0EG 16 amp
    1/2 Hp

P.S. This arcing appears to be inside the relay.

Not sure what happened. I messed around with this thing a little. Pushed the 'relay' tried to make sure the panel was tight, etc.. It seems to have stopped the weird sound which actually sounded more like a rattling as if something was loose. I also called myself tightening the screw that hold the panel in place even though they were not really loose.
Anyway, now it only clicks now and then like when it calls for heat. That is the way it seems at least. No arcing, no rattling,..as of now.

Maybe somehting was a little sticky, it was a very greasy stove to clean!
