    Default Fireplace

Okay I'm at a loss, I have to be missing something here. I have a Monessen millivolt vent free propane log fire place a week ago my wife turned it on and as it lite from the pilot light "poof" out went the main burner and the pilot. Tried relighting the pilot and it would light BUT soon as you let go of the button it would slowly die out. Tested the old thermocoupler it had no reading so I ordered a new assembly which includes the thermocouple, the piezo and the thermopile. So I replaced the parts, successfully lite the pilot, nice little blue flame burning on the thermopile, approx, 20 minutes later the whole fireplace goes out pilot and all, I relight it and start the main burners back up and 30 or so minutes later it does the same thing again. I tested the thermopile and it reads with just the pilot on around 650 when you turn on the main burners it drops to around 195 but still at random will turn off.

Thanks Jeff, I did see the "mygasfireplacerepair.com" tried all that and still having the same issue. Not sure that page is still a running forum, won't let me post to it.

lol, that's kinda what I thought too, in fact I followed the video instructions to test the thermopile and the thermocouple (the new one) and it seems to be doing just what it should. I tested the pilot light this morning by just running it and for over 4 hours it did just what it's supposed to do without any problems, sooooooo I turned on the main burner, 40 minutes later the whole thing shut down again. Funny thing is I can re light it without issue immediately if I try.
I guess this only leaves the valve, cause there really is only two working parts and I've replaced one.

Might be helpful. Check the answer just past the "Best Answer"

Maybe it is running just long enough to overheat, if it has a fan that is not coming on. Just a thought.
