Ever replace an old dryer motor with a newer with the different type switch by matching the wires up by color?

Kinds, sorta yes.
We matched the numbers on the switches for the wiring, not the colours.

Hmm, I'm thinking the colors pretty well matched the numbers on the one I have tried this on. Yellow and blue on 5 and 4. The reds on 1 and 2, etc. I just have the motor on the floor of the dryer. It will not star by the button.
It did run with a test cord out of the dryer (Blue and yellow). The start buttton checks good. It would try to start the old bad motor that was in it. Maybe the start wire contact on the switch is bad on the motor I am trying to use? I can hear the timer running, but nothing happens when I push start.
The door switch is bypassed.
Where is the push/turn to start wire?....often on terminal #6Yellow and blue on 5 and 4. The reds on 1 and 2, etc.

I will check this morning
I think this one was on #6. Got her hooked up, and it seems to do what it is supposed to.
It did when I turned it on. It will wait until I sell it to go bad.![]()
