    Default Protector and adaptor

    Kenmore dryer
    Model - 110.66902692

This dryer has a plastic box-like piece I think called protector. On the diagram, it looks like there is some sort of adaptor on the other end. One end is in the lint chute. A hose runs from there to the plastic box-like protector on the outside of the lint chute.

What is this, and is it necessary? I broke this one getting the bottom panel off.

Would it have anything to do with the dryer blowing thermal cut-offs?

Btw, it does not blow these at my shop. Hasn't yet anyway.

I thought this was something like a lint filter reminder....would make a noise if you forgot to clean the lint filter.

Remove it and tape the hole closed.
